My husband has become a high-protein yogurt fanatic over the past couple of years, so we have researched and tried everything out there, including all the non-dairy options. This list contains our favorite options and gives all the information you need to choose the best one for you.

The best high-protein non-dairy yogurts are Daiya Deliciously Dairy-Free Plain Greek Yogurt Alternative, Siggi’s Plant-Based Yogurt, and Forager Cashew Milk Yogurt. Other alternatives with lower protein content include Lavva Plant-Based Yogurt, Oatly Natural Oatgurt, and Silk Almond Yogurt.

1. Nancy’s Plain Oat Milk Yogurt

Like Nancy’s, Chobani is well-known for various dairy products, especially its greek yogurt. However, this company now includes non-dairy alternatives, like its gluten-free oat milk yogurt. The proteins in this yogurt come from peas and oats, but several other nutrients are added, as well as thickeners and fruit.

Chobani non-dairy yogurt comes in different flavor combinations, like strawberry vanilla or peach mandarin. One 100g (3.5 oz) serving contains 4g (0.14 oz) of protein and only 1.6g (0.06 oz) fat. Which Non-Dairy Milk Has the Highest Protein?

As you can see, there are plenty of high-protein, dairy-free yogurt options available. All the alternatives below are made of non-dairy milk, like coconut milk, oat milk, or almond milk. These plant-based milk alternatives are typically rich in plant proteins.

Typically, pea milk is the richest in protein, followed by soy. Hemp and almond milk also contains quite a lot of protein, compared to coconut or cashew. However, specific milk brands can have varying protein levels, depending on the added ingredients. 

For instance, Silk soy milk contains 7g (0.25 oz) of protein per serving, among the highest protein levels in non-dairy milk alternatives. Certain brands of pea milk contain 8g (0.28 oz) of protein, which is pretty much the same as dairy milk.

Is Vegan Yogurt High in Protein?

As you have seen above, vegan yogurts can have a protein content of anywhere between 0 and 7g (0 to 0.25 oz) per 100g (3.5 oz) serving. While the latter is relatively high, it’s still not comparable to dairy yogurts. Still, high-protein vegan yogurts can be enough to fulfill your daily needs.

Although the general perception makes vegan yogurt seem healthier than dairy yogurt, the truth is that neither type is inherently better overall. When it comes to protein content, dairy has an advantage, but vegan can have lower amounts of fat and sugar. However, there are vegan yogurts that don’t offer much in terms of nutrition.
